What we do

The main interst of our lab is the ecology of interspecific interactions. In particular, we seek to understand the ecological and evolutionary consequences of biotic interactions and how they respond to human-caused environmental changes. Our research is motivated by questions that lead us to combine a variety of approaches, including field observational studies, manipulative experiments, computer simulations, meta-analyses of data from the literature, mathematical models, and conceptual work with pen and paper. We work mainly with plants and insects (bees and other pollinators, ants), but we are open to studying other kinds of organisms if the question requires it.

Our current projects include

  • the structure, function and conservation of plant-pollinator interaction networks;
  • the effect of plant diversity on wood-nesting bees;
  • the demography and population dynamics of algarrobo dulce (Prosopis flexuosa) and its interactions with its herbivores and seed predators;
  • the ecological effects of wood harvesting on algarrobo dulce forests; and
  • the determinants of the geographic distribution of species diversity, particularly of tenebrionid beetles.

In our personal web pages you will find further details on these projects and the publications that have resulted from them.
